Job Summary

The Plant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of the plant, including managing employees, safety, meeting projections and ensuring quality. This position is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations and production. Excellent interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to drive continuous improvement activities effectively utilizing plant employees, as well as innovative tools and approaches. Key leadership requirements include the ability to inspire trust, create direction, build talent and culture, execute with excellence, and produce extraordinary results.

Responsibilities

    • Manage daily plant operations through employees.
    • Ensure that employees operate within the safety practices and procedures established by the company, establish a culture where safety is the highest priority.
    • Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital.
    • Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while insuring product standards that will meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.
    • Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
    • Train, educate and communicate proper operating procedures to employees.
    • Identify, investigate, and resolve technical issues related to the manufacturing process resulting from equipment failures, non-conformance to formulas or procedures, and/or faulty processes.
    • Work closely with maintenance department to identify, report and resolve issues with equipment to insure proper maintenance and care of the equipment.
    • Ensure that key objectives are met, such as cost, quality, customer service, and environmental compliance.

 

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, standard methods, and practices of recycling operations and facilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment, and practices employed in the recycling industry.
  • Adheres to all compliance policies and procedures and conducts business in an ethical and legal manner.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must understand the importance of safety in our business and place the highest of priorities on safe practices.
  • Thorough understanding of material grading, material quality and the importance on upgrading of materials.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.

Qualification Standards

  • A minimum of 5 years of related progressive experience in the recycling, waste, transportation or related industry field.
  • Highly self-motivated and disciplined
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
